You NEED to start making your own mayonnaise! 👆
OH my goodness, I didn’t know just how easy it could be to make one of my favorite (but super unhealthy) condiments! The most amazing thing about making your own Mayo, is that you know exactly what you’re putting in and if you’re not happy with the ingredient, you change it! Mayo is something I put on everything, from chips (fries) to Pizza Crusts 😳😬…so I thought it was high time I made my own, much healthier version, for my dipping addiction!
The ingredient list consists of, Avocado Oil, Lemon Juice, Pink Salt & an egg. SO simple and SO quick, the only other things you need are a jar (the same one you’re going to store it in later!) and an emersion/stick blender! It is pretty amazing to watch it come together, it is immediate and just crazy to see it emulsify so fast.
You know I love Avocado oil, mainly due to it’s amazing benefits and high smoke point, and in this, it is a light tasting oil that doesn’t overpower. Also, being a Green, it’s pretty cool to have a green tinted mayo 😆! You can substitute it for a light tasting olive oil or other light oil of your choice, we just love the old Avocado!
Making foods we love healthier by adding,changing or DIY’ing is the most fun project for us. It means that we can eat exactly the same as we always have (throwing in new recipes all the time of course!) but we’re so much happier about what is going into our bodies. It also encourages us to do the research and find out what ingredients benefit which parts of our bodies and how. Our bodies really are amazing and putting good homemade healthy food into them is a way to say thank you! Showing how much we appreciate everything they do for us on a daily basis that we may or may not even notice!
If you make one thing today, let it be this super quick Avocado Oil mayo, your body will thank you later! Oh and let us know what Oil you use if you substitute and how you like it! 💚
- 1 Egg
- 2 tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 cup avocado Oil
- Pinch Salt
- Optional: 1 tbsp. mustard & black pepper
- crack the egg into the bottom of a jar
- Add in the other ingredients
- Watch the Egg and Oil separate to form two nice layers (takes about 10 seconds!)
- Put your emersion stick blender into the jar and push it to the bottom
- Blend for about 20 seconds without moving the stick and then for the last 10 seconds move it around a little to make sure all is mixed thoroughly.
- Voila! Mayonnaise!
- You can now get fancy and add in anything you like, mustard, chili flakes, horseradish, etc.
